This past week, we had another incredible evening at Shellring Ale Works for our monthly Taps & Ties, and this one was extra special. We were joined by a great group of local anglers, conservationists, and newcomers alike for a night of tying, cold beers, and conversation.

The featured fly of the evening was the Blind Faith, a proven Lowcountry pattern that’s become a favorite for targeting redfish in our local waters. Whether you were tying for the first time or perfecting your technique, it was awesome to see so much hands-on creativity on display.

We were also honored to host the team from Release Over 20 as our guest speakers. They shared their mission to promote the release of all inshore game fish over 20 inches—a simple, powerful practice to help protect our fisheries for generations to come. Their passion and knowledge sparked some great discussion and reminded us all of why we tie, fish, and protect the waters we love.

If you missed it—no worries! We’ll be posting a recap video of the fly tying session on our YouTube channel the Monday following each event, so you can follow along at home and stay in the loop even if you can’t make it in person. Whether you’re a seasoned tyer or just getting started, these videos are a great resource to keep learning and stay connected with the community.

Big thanks to Shellring Ale Works for hosting us again in such a perfect space, to the “Release Over 20” crew for the important work they’re doing, and to everyone who came out. The energy, the conversations, and the shared passion for fly fishing made it a night to remember.

Stay tuned for the next event announcement
